Technothani Background

Suranaree University of Technology was entrusted by the government to establish the Northeastern Science Park (Technopolis) on Wednesday, June 29, 1995, consisting of 9 buildings with a total area of 45,000 square meters on 600 rai of land.

Technopolis is an area of collaboration between the university and the private sector in research, innovation, technology transfer, and business incubation. Announced on April 23, 1996.

The Cooperative Education and Career Development Project was transferred from the Academic Affairs Division to become part of Technopolis. Consequently, the organizational structure was streamlined from five departments into three: the General Administration Department, the Academic Services Department, and the Technology Adaptation and Transfer Department. In that same year, Technopolis achieved ISO 9002 quality management system certification from SGS (Thailand) Ltd.

Technothani received certification for upgrading its quality management system from ISO 9002 to ISO 9001:2000, awarded by SGS (Thailand) Ltd.

Operations were organized into three divisions and nine projects. The management structure of Technothani was subsequently expanded to include five additional projects: the Cassava and Cassava Products Research Center, the Translation and Interpretation Service Unit, the Laboratory Service Unit, the Science Classroom, and the Simulated Traffic City. In 2009, the organization was renamed from the Business Incubation Unit to the Science Park Project.

Approval in principle has been granted for the restructuring of Technothani’s administration. This involves renaming internal units—specifically those designated as "Administration Office..."—to simply "Office..." by removing the word "Administration" to convey a broader scope. Consequently, the unit names have been adjusted in accordance with the University Council's recommendations as follows: 1) Office of the Technothani Director 2) Office of the Sirindhorn Learning Park 3) Office of the Science and Innovation Park 4) Office of Academic Services and Special Projects

Technothani has divided its work into 7 departments, consisting of 6 original departments and the addition of Surasammankarn as the 7th department.

Technothani has been restructured into five divisions: General Administration, Academic Services, Technology Adaptation and Transfer, Technology Development and Information, and Projects, Activities, and Special Projects. The Cooperative Education and Career Development Project has been transferred to the Academic Division.

The management structure of Technopolis has been reorganized into three divisions and four projects: the General Administration Division, the Academic Services Division, and the Technology Adaptation and Transfer Division; along with the Butterfly Park Project, the University Business Incubator (SUT-UBI) Project, the Industrial Technology Assistance Program (iTAP), and the Community Learning Center Project.

2555 to 2556

Fiscal Year 2013 marked a period of piloting a new management structure for Technothani. This structure was designed to ensure the efficient realization of the vision and to accommodate a mission that was expanding and shifting toward a more proactive approach. It fostered internal integration among work groups while aligning external missions, all supported by a "One-Step Service" management model.Financial management procedures, among others, have been streamlined to enhance operational agility, thereby enabling more efficient support for the academic service activities of faculty members across the various Schools.

Vision

Serving as a leading regional hub for innovation and technology, and aiming to partner with the private, public, and academic sectors to sustainably enhance the capabilities of the Suranaree industrial sector.

Mission

Technothani has three primary missions: 1. To serve as a center for providing academic services and consultation to the public and various agencies regarding the capacity building of community and local organizations, equipping them with the knowledge and ability to utilize science and technology to increase productivity and strengthen their organizations. 2. Serve as a coordination center for the adaptation and transfer of technology and innovation to the manufacturing sector to enhance competitiveness, and support the concrete development of their own technologies and innovations. 3. It serves as a social learning center that fosters human potential in science and technology to meet national development needs—particularly among youth and the production sector—enabling them to effectively select, adopt, and develop technologies, while also prioritizing the cultivation of scientific thinking and problem-solving skills among the general public.

Navy blue is the institutional color representing stability, strength, and organizational credibility. It has been used since the university's founding.
